The Challenge
The customer needed to replace two coolers serving separate blending systems – located within a tight shared space – and they needed it completed in just one week. To make things more difficult, the new units were both larger and heavier than the originals, requiring thorough planning for structural support, rigging access, and installation logistics.
Our Solution: Scan, Model, Execute
Using advanced 3D scanning and BIM, our engineering team:
- Mapped the facility with high precision to identify necessary structural removals and safe rigging pathways
- Designed reinforcements to accommodate the additional weight of the new coolers
- Engineered new access platforms after identifying and replacing an unsafe catwalk
- Coordinated closely with a third-party installer responsible for the chiller system, ensuring full-system alignment and schedule integrity
Execution Under Pressure
With models finalized, our in-house installation team took over – managing all rigging, electrical, and mechanical components. The team worked in two shifts, ensuring continuous progress throughout the week. Despite the spatial constraints and added weight of the new equipment, our teams finished on time and the client was able to resume production as planned.
